Let’s master plan District 6 together!
I’m Vanessa Chavez, a proud daughter of this district and a single mom of two amazing sons. My father, a Korean War veteran, retired civil servant from Kelly Air Force Base, and small business owner, alongside my stay-at-home mom, instilled in me the values of hard work and community.
With nearly 30 years of public service experience, I have worked alongside local, state, and federal officials—including six City Council members—focusing on serving our community. In my role in a City Council office, I collaborated with various city departments on vital projects, ensuring our neighborhoods have the resources they need. I’m committed to creating a supportive environment where all families can thrive.

Key Issues
As your city council candidate, my focus is on improving public safety, expanding affordable housing, and enhancing our infrastructure to create a better, more accessible city for everyone. I’m dedicated to fostering economic growth by supporting local businesses, creating job opportunities, and ensuring access to essential resources and services for all. Together, we can build a community where everyone’s voice is heard, and we work hand-in-hand for a safer, healthier, and more vibrant future.
Infrastructure: Building strong foundations
I will ensure our public spaces are safe, accessible, and welcoming for everyone. I have worked directly with the City of San Antonio Public Works Executive Team and staff to address infrastructure challenges.
Quality of Life: Enhancing Our Community
I’m dedicated to expanding services that improve our daily lives. I have worked directly with the Parks and Recreation, Animal Care Services, and Library Executive Teams to ensure residents have access to vibrant resources—from beautiful parks to engaging library services and responsible animal care.
Public Safety: Keeping Our Neighborhoods Secure
Public safety is my priority. I have worked directly with SAPD and SAFFE officers throughout my career, including alongside some of the first SAFFE officers in 1995. I’ve witnessed the SAFFE program grow into a thriving initiative that enhances safety in our community. I will continue to enhance police and fire patrols and develop compassionate solutions for homelessness.
